How to Update Aadhaar Card Details Online?

The procedure to update the name, address, gender, and date of birth details online is mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the Official UIDAI Website

Step 2: Login on the portal using your Aadhaar number and OTP.

Step 3: Click on the "Update Address in your Aadhaar" option under ‘My Aadhaar’ tab

Step 4: Click on ‘Update Demographics Data and Check Status” option

To update your name, date of birth, gender, address, mobile number, email ID, or biometric data on your Aadhaar card, visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You can visit the enrollment centre at your convenience, as no prior appointment is required.

Step 4 - Click on ‘Update Aadhaar Online’.

Step 5 - Read the instructions and click ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’.

Step 7 - Enter the new address, upload valid address proof, and click ‘Next’.

To link your mobile number with your Aadhaar card offline, you must visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Follow the following steps:

Step 1: Find the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You can do this by using the "Locate an Enrolment Center" feature on the UIDAI website.

Step 2: Obtain and fill out the Aadhaar Update/Correction Form. You will need to mention that you want to update your mobile number.

Step 3: You will have to provide your biometrics. An Aadhaar executive will take your fingerprints and/or an iris scan for biometric authentication to verify your identity.

Aadhaar Fee Structure Update

The new fee structure announced by the UIDAI for Aadhaar services will take effect from 1 October 2025. According to the new fee structure, the charges for major Aadhaar-related services have increased. Aadhaar services previously costing Rs.50 and Rs.75 will now cost Rs.75 and Rs.100. Starting from 2028, the Rs.75 and Rs.125 services will be increased to Rs.90 and Rs.150, respectively.

However, biometric updates for children aged 5 to 7 and teenagers aged 15 to 17 years are still free. For children aged 7 to 15, biometric updates are free until 30 September 2026. The charge for other biometric updates will be Rs.125. Demographic updates, such as name, address, gender, and DOB, are also free when done along with biometric updates. Standalone demographic updates cost between Rs.50 and Rs.70. Updating identity and address documents using the myAadhaar portal is free until 14 June 2026, and updating through Aadhaar centres costs Rs.50 to Rs.70. The charge for home enrolment services is Rs.700, plus the standard update fees.

UIDAI Reminder: Update Biometric Details of Children After Age 5 and 15

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) states that biometric updates are required once a child turns five. Since fingerprints and iris scans are not developed at that age, the card depends only on a photo, name, and address. The Aadhaar card is called Baal Aadhaar, printed in blue, and is issued for children under the age of five. According to reports, approximately 17 crore Aadhaar updates for children are still pending in India. If a biometric update is missing, parents must pay a fee (currently Rs.100).

New Aadhaar App to Simplify Identity Verification Using QR Code Technology

Instead of providing photocopies, Aadhaar holders will be able to electronically disclose their identities in the upcoming weeks. According to a TOI article, users would be able to share a full version of the document through QR code using a new mobile app from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). A system that allows users to alter their name, date of birth, address, and phone number from the comfort of their own homes will be introduced by UIDAI. By November, providing fingerprints and iris scans at an enrollment center will be the only in-person step. The goal of the action is to reduce paperwork, reduce the possibility of fake documents, and speed up the procedure for citizens. Birth certificates, driver's licenses, passports, PANs, PDSs, and MNREGA are among the documents from which UIDAI obtains its data directly. The QR-code approach is ready to be used for identity verification on trains, hotel check-ins, and property deals.

Aadhaar-Based Facial Recognition to Fully Replace Biometric Attendance in Medical Colleges

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the biometric attendance system will be discontinued and fully replaced by an Aadhaar-based facial recognition method from 1 May 2025. The rule will apply to all medical college faculty members across India in which teachers give their attendance by using a special face scan app that is linked to their Aadhaar number. The app can be downloaded from both Play Store and App Store. This change has been made to stop the issue of "ghost faculty", i.e., teachers who are listed on college records but do not actually work there. All the medical colleges have been asked to make sure every teacher is ready to use the new system before the deadline.
